役者舞台之姿絵

初代 歌川豊国  (toyokuni utagawa)

1769－1825　江戸時代後期の浮世絵師。

明和6年生まれ。歌川豊春の門人。寛政6-8年「役者舞台之姿絵」のシリーズで人気をよぶ。美人画にもすぐれ「風流七小町略(やつし)姿絵」が有名。合巻,読み本などの挿絵もおおくかく。初代歌川国貞,歌川国芳らをそだて,歌川派隆盛の基をつくった。

1769-1825 Ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period.

Born in the 6th year of Meiwa. A disciple of Toyoharu Utagawa. He gained popularity in the series of ``Yakusha Butai no Sugatae'' in the 6th to 8th years of the Kansei era. He is also famous for his paintings of beautiful women, such as ``Furyu 7 Komachi Ryaku (Yatsushi) Sugata-e''. He also does a lot of illustrations such as gowaki and yomihon. He trained the first Utagawa Kunisada and Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and laid the foundation for the prosperity of the Utagawa school.
